Also referred to as French ear wires, these are the most common, simple ear wires. To better secure them, you can add a stopper on the back of the ear wire.​​

These ear wires have a distinct shape, resembling a kidney bean. They are elongated and have a horizontal hook closure that keeps them on more securely than a standard ear wire. Great for simple or shorter designs, to give them more depth and dangle.

What we call 'huggie hoops', are more commonly called lever-back ear wires. They feature a hinged closure, which keeps them on securely. They have a much smaller profile than kidney wires. Huggie hoops must be handled delicately in order to not damage the spring hinge.
